Guns vs. Alcohol

I just sent a email to my Congressman, this is what I said.

I am deeply disturbed by Obama's recent gun grab. He and his cohorts claim this is for our safety. I suggest that he takes a look at the statistics involving alcohol. Such as every 39 minutes an innocent person is killed by a drunk driver. If you were to add up the number of fatalities from DUI, boating, suicide and medical deaths from alcohol related diseases it would make death by gun violence pale in comparison. Lets look at the other side of things like how many lives a year are saved by gun ownership. How many lives are saved by alcohol ownership? Alcohol in my opinion should be highly taxed, regulated and prevented from certain advertising medium like tobacco is now. Now is this going to happen, I doubt it. It could either be because of "Big Liquor Money" or the fact that many politicians are a bunch of drunks which appears to be the only explanation of their actions when it comes to running this country. We have a constitutional right to bear arms. Why don't you work on preserving our rights under the constitution?
